Why The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side

Guys....have you ever met the situation where you kept thinking that there are better opportunities out there compared to your current one you are having? Take an example, you have a girlfriend/boyfriend and the thought of settling down always make you feel uneasy because you think that there are better girls/guys out there. This is the syndrome when one is always looking at the other side of the grass and think that the grass is greener on the other side and is also what I call the “greener grass” syndrome.

Why are we like this?

Uncertainty and curiosity plays a big part in creating the “greener grass” syndrome. It is because we are uncertain of whether what we are holding onto now is the best for us and whether are there any better alternatives out there. This uncertainty cause us to keep looking into alternatives and sometime it is doing us more harm than good because consistently looking out for the “greener grass” will sap us of our energy and attention and ultimately what we get will be an angry partner.

Human are also curious by nature and we love new things. We mostly prefer new over old because new things intrigue us and our curiosity will keep prompting us to explore the other side of the grass. These are the 2 factors that cause us to feel unsatisfied with what we have and always harboring the thought of finding the greener grass at the opposite side.

The Bad

So what is so bad about having the “greener grass” syndrome? If you have this syndrome, chances are you are missing out lots of things you currently have now. When we are always focusing on other opportunities, sometime we tend to squander the opportunity right in front of us.

There are lots of great people out there in world who can be your potential partner and sometime the best partner for you is just right in front of you but you did not put in enough effort in developing the relationship because you are spending your energy on searching for other people who seems to be better than the relationship you are having currently.

The Truth

The grass is always greener on the other side, AND the other side is always greener no matter which side you are. Have you seen some of your friends changing their girlfriend or boyfriend frequently because they say that their current boyfriend/girlfriend is just not good enough and there are better options out there. No matter how many times they change their partner, they are still not be satisfied and they will go off again searching for their “greener grass”.

Even when they have a 100% nice guy/girl as their partner, they will forsake the 100% nice guy/girl and search for someone who is 101% nice. Their life will be just running around in circles because once they found the 101%, they will want a 102% and so on and on.

How To Cure The “Greener Grass” Syndrome

The first thing to do is to acknowledge that your current partner is your best partner for you right now. Stay in the present and do not think about the hunks/babes out there who may be better than your current partner. By choosing to stay in the present, we can help to bring ourselves back from the future and preventing to have the thoughts of “what if there are better people out there” or “what if he/she is not for me” and etc.

Always apply your best effort in your current relationship. I had saw friends saying that their relationship can’t work out but from a third party point of view, what I am seeing is actually they are not putting enough effort into the relationship. So what make them think that the relationship is going to work when the effort on his part is negligible.

Last but not least, always remember that the grass is always greener on the other side, no matter which side you are at. Choose a side, stick to it and make the best out of it.

The guy who love you, don't know that whether he should call you when you are angry, but he will sent a message to you after few hours, if you ask him why he call that late, he will said, when you are angry, my explanation are all rubbish. But when you calm down, my explanation will only really works.

The guys who love you, always call you little girl, but everytime he want to make a big decision, he will first want to hear your advice.

The guy who love you, don't like little toy like teddy bear, but he will always put the bear you gift him at his bed.

DESIGN??oh GOD...I Hate Design!!!
Pertama kali dapet subject tentang design itu di 3rd semester: COMPUTER WORKSHOP.
what the hell dapet subject yang sebegini anehnya.suruh bikin logo ini,gambar itu.pusing!!
dapet lecturer juga sangat ga enak,bapak nya pasrah banget.yaudah..kerjaannya tiap ada subject itu,aku pasti melarikan diri!Jarang masuk lah intinya..well,sampe mid test pun i got 34!! The most horrible score i ever got selama di London School!Sempet mikir dulu kalo pasti ga bakal pass deh di final nanti..karena emang ga bisa design sama skali!then,deket-deket mau final exam.Entah setan apa yang masuk,tiba-tiba kepikiran buat belajar design.Tapiiiii tetep aja stuck dengan photoshop yang buta sama sekali..mau diapain juga ga bisa!Lari deh ke gramedia,cari buku tentang photoshop or wateva lah yang related sama design.YESS!dapet..Thanks to "Panduan Lengkap Memakai Adobe Photoshop CS2".This book was superb!sangat membantu manusia yang hopeless ini menyelesaikan final examnya dengan nilai 98!!Wooooooooohoooo....
Akhirnya..setelah mulai mulai ngerti,paham,jelas.ada niat buat mulai ngutak ngatik semua tools di photoshop...dan VOILA!!satu persatu project jadi..dan THANKS GOD.
Im SATTISFIED!!
Jadi sekarang kan...aku ga jadi calon PR yang standart skali tanpa skills kalo graduate ntar...ya,untungnya ada lah,dikit-dikit bisa design!hehee...now I'm starting to love design.the title must be I LOVE DESIGN TO THE MAX!!

This is the most embarrassing moment ever!!
Kenapa ya orang-orang sering banget bilang "aduuh..kamu mirip yah sama Nafa!".HELL NO!
Apa sih yang bikin mereka ngomong gitu???kok aku ngerasa sama sekali nggak. Yang paling bikin sebel adalah...farra,feroz,mirza(they all were the pioneers) selalu,selalu and selalu bilang kalo KAMU MIRIP NAFAAAA!!

Sering aku ketemu orang-orang(wherever I go) dan mereka bilang...ok,here's the story from few peeps,lemme share with you guys.
1. Ibu-ibu di Rs.Pertamina (dia ini temen sekamarnya Ibu ku waktu sakit)...dia ngeliatiiin aku dari atas sampe bawah,dari belakang ke depan.Dia bilang "Ih..kamu mirip Nafa Urbach ya...pantesan dari tadi tante liatin kamu,ternyata mirip loh!!"
2. Mbak-mbak di Pasar Baru Bandung,Tanah Abang, Cempaka Mas,Mas-mas Cold Stone Plaza Senayan,etc..bilang"eh..kamu mirip siapa yah????kayak pernah liat deh mbak...mirip Nafa ih..."
3. The stupid innocent handsome guy di Busway,let say Mr.X..."Hi..kayaknya aku sering liat kamu deh,dimana ya???aku jawab "ah..tapi aku nggak pernah liat kamu tuh!". Mr X: "Iya..aku kayaknya familiar yah sama kamu..suka ikut2 iklan gitu nggak sih?.Nish: iklan apa ya mas..nggak kok.saya sering beredar di mall iya..heeee(innocent guiltness smile mode:on).Mr X: Ooooh...(dia mikir gitu).Aku pikir emang dia pernah liat aku di mall mana gitu kan???!ternyata u knoe what he said??Mr X: "Kamu mirip Nafa Urbach tau...mirip banget.adik nya ya???? DAMNNNNN!huh,gila ni orang...ilang deh feeling ku setelah dia ngomong gitu..nggak ada Ok Ok nya sama sekali.masa dibilang mirip Nafa???darimana???
4. Last but not least but very shocking...One day,it was almost 4 or 6 months ago...lagi jalan ke ITC Permata Hijau,mau arah ke Toilet. Aku liat-liatan sama orang,berjarak cuma 5 meter.Dia ngeliatin dari atas ke bawah,belakang depan(perfectly like ibu ibu pertamina's case).Dia bengong gitu..then aku juga melakukan hal yang sama...OH NO!She was NAFA URBACH.....aneh sekali dia ngeliatnya.ada yang salah dengan ku???My sist said"Nish...dia ngeliatin lo tuh,karena wahhh ada kembaran gue and kenapa ada disini yahhhhh???".
5......etc(there's a lot of stories from people that neva eva see me as me,as NISHA!always and always said NAFA,NAFA)
Bingung ya..kenapa sih orang selalu ngomong in hal itu...jelas jelas beda lah NAFA dengan NISHA.
darimana coba samanya??well,ok i know that katanya kita punya istilahnya "kembaran" 7 orang di dunia ini...but please.kenapa harus NAFAAAA????

The point I would like to say is just Nisha is Nisha,Nafa is Nafa.
